Gilgamech
Last week Gilga sold his '63 Plymouth Valiant and had cash money burning a hole in his pocket.
He had a few projects on his wish list but finally chose a 1965 VW Bug that he found in Springville. He's pretty psyched on his new project which was already lowered via a narrowed beam up front and he wasted no time getting the back end down another 3" this weekend.
Let me introduce Gilga's new VW.

Project Check In
I made the UC rounds on Saturday to check out progress on some of the other Road Devil cars.
First stop was Rogers to see the '50 chev hardtop that Tyler is choping and getting ready for paint. And hey I actually welded up the trim holes on the deck lid of this car.
Then we headed over to Wayne's house to check out progress on his '30 Model A that has been chopped 5" and channeled a few inches over the frame. His motor is at the machine shop and he should be ready to rock in a few months. I was part of the retrieval crew that went with Wayne to pull this car out of a brush pile up near the UT ID border a few months back.

Spotted
No your eyes are not playing tricks on you. That is a "General Lee" Dodge pickup, confederate flag and all. Wow I don't know what else to say. I'm pretty confident this was not a factory option and someone spent hard earned money to make this a reality.
Just because you can...Doesn't mean you should!

My favorite shoebox of all time
Dave York's shoebox is the coolest shoebox Ford of all time and he's a he'll of a nice guy too. I met Dave at last years Billetproof show in Washington. I took this snap the first night in town before the show even started. That one car was worth the entire trip.

Suzuki Photoshoot
The Suzuki is up for auction so I did a little photo shoot this afternoon out in the cold and damp. Nothing real special but hopefully enough to help it sell faster.

Operation Valentine
Operation Valentine took place last Friday for what is the beginning of project "meep meep...ciao!" If you don't get the reference you need to watch some Eddie Izard.
Bekah has a 1960 Vespa 125 that has been sitting in her parents garage for the last decade and has sadly become nothing more than glorified gardening tool storage. She had at one point started to disassemble the scooter in the hopes of restoring it but as with many projects the task was never completed and it has sat neglected for years. We've talked about working on and even tried a time or two before giving up.
For Valentines (which is a topic for debate in itself) I decided to surprise her and take the scooter to Beehive Scooters in Salt Lake to begin the restoration process for the last and final time. I had the day off on Friday and GJ was kind enough to drive up and lend me a hand in liberating the scooter from its lonely solitude. I had made previous arrangements with Bekah's parents so they knew to expect us. We made short work of loading the scooter in the truck and gathering all the nuts and bolts.
I had neglected to note the scooter shop hours and we arrived with Vespa in tow only to find they did not open for 2 more hours. So with time to kill GJ and I decided to make it an Italian experience day with a trip to the Ducati shop on Main St. and lunch at Tony Caputo's. Not a bad way to spend a day off. We finally made our way back to Beehive and unloaded the scooter. I discussed the plan of attack with Josh at Beehive and we were set. Project "meep meep...ciao!" was in full effect.
Stay tuned for updates as this should progress quickly. I'm hoping to have it on the road within the next 8-10 weeks. You can tune over to Bekah's blog to read her account of the story.

Suzuki Graphics
The graphics for the Suzuki started with a conversation.
Sketched out some ideas in Illustrator and here's the result.
Then we cut the designs on the plotter using a bold red and some of the metal flake gold.
Stay tuned for the finished product when they get applied to the bike this weekend.
